The go-live checklist every new SOC client needs

By RORA

Go-live is the moment a SOC engagement becomes real, and it is also where gaps quietly appear. Sources that were supposed to be forwarding logs are not; escalation contacts are out of date; a playbook references a tool the client never provisioned. A structured go-live checklist is the last gate to catch these.

A good checklist verifies the practical essentials: log sources connected and validated, detection rules deployed, escalation paths tested, on-call contacts confirmed, and regulatory notification procedures agreed and understood by the client.

It also confirms the human side - that the client knows how incidents will be communicated, who signs off on containment actions, and what the first weeks of monitoring will look like.

Generating the checklist as part of the onboarding pack means it reflects the specific sources and decisions captured during intake, rather than a generic list that misses what makes this client different.
